Tech Talk: New Laptop? Check the Drivers

Now that they mayhem of Black Friday and Cyber Monday are over and your new laptop is here there's a couple of things you need to do before you start loading all of your favorite games and apps.
The very first thing you do once you power up your machine and get your user info set up, is to make sure your drivers are up to date. Now if you're super techy you probably already do this, but if you're not this is one simple step you can do to ensure you get the most out of your machine.
Sure Windows notifies you about updates, but drivers for components don't always give you the heads up. That's why GIGABYTE Notebooks has an easy driver's update area in the Gigabyte Control Center. (We can't speak for every laptop manufacturer, some don't make it easy to find your driver info.) So, let's say you scored a great deal on an AERO or Aorus laptop and you just got it. Here's what you do to ensure your drivers are up to date.
STEP 1: Look on your Desktop and Find the GIGABYTE Control Center icon - Click it to open.

STEP 2: Click Smart Utilities

Step 3: Select the highlighted drivers you want to update by clicking the buttons.
Hint: Just click one at a time for best results.
What are drivers?
Drivers are mini-pieces of software that help components like speakers, touch pads, usb ports and graphics cards function. Just like your apps get updates, so too do components. Don't worry about it too much, it doesn't happen very often, but it's a good first step to get the most out of your new to you laptop.
